Corn Starch

Starch is a white, odorless powder found in seeds or tubers of many plants. Corn, wheat and potatoes are among the major starch containing plants. Almost 70% of dry matter of corn kernel contains starch. Starch is used not only in food industry but also in textile and paper production, fermentation, drilling and many other industries. Starch powder is produced through mechanical dehydration of starch slurry with the help of centrifuges or vacuum filters followed by hot air drying. Native starch has several functionalities such as gel forming, thickening, texturizing, water holding capacity, and stabilizing properties.
